I have been very busy over the last week and a bit. If anyone follows me on social media you would know that enjoy performing and that I have recently starred in a local community theatre performance of 'Keeping Down With The Joneses'. It was a great show with great audiences every single night. This might explain why I have been a little bit quite recently posting on my website.
Now to move onto the topic of this blog...
For most of us owning a smartphone or tablet is essential to survive in the 21st century. Whether it is being used, to connect to others from around the world, flick through your news feed, listen to your favourite band or play the latest addictive game, we all love our applications (apps). Nowadays there is an app for pretty much everything, you name it and there is probably an app for it! Many app developers are designing apps which help us to live easier lives and let our smartphone and tablets to the hard thinking for us.

In this blog I have decided to choose 5 apps that I use a lot and that may interest you.

Fitbit: Ever since I purchased my Fitbit Charge I have used the Fitbit app to see my daily movement. The Fitbit Charge connects to the app via. Bluetooth. The app displays; steps, calories burned, distance, calories eaten, hours of sleep, weight, floors climbed and active minutes. Since using the app I have been conscious of what I have been eating by logging by food into the app. The app then recognises how much exercise I have done against food logged and then if I have eaten too much or not enough for the day. The app also lets you know how many hours sleep you have had and how many times you were restless or awake (you must wear your Fitbit Charge to bed for this to happen).

BimX: As a designer, presenting a client an idea or design is hard enough, but when you can't get across what you are trying to say on 2D drawings you need something that can do the job easier. BimX is a 3D virtual world where you bring your models in from ArchiCAD and before you know it, you are in the driver's seat. By using simply touch control on your phone or tablet (works really well on an iPad) you are easily able to understand the building in its entirety without looking at a single plan. Using BimX Pro ($64.99), plans, sections and elevations are able to be imbedded into the model which makes for an even better presentation. If you are presenting to a large audience using an Apple TV or equivalent will help everyone to see the action.

Spotify: When it comes to music, of course there is a music app on your phone or tablet, but does it have every song that you could ever listen to? Probably not, that's why there's Spotify. With Spotify you are able to stream any song which exists for free! There is a song for every occasion with radios which you can create from other artists or genres. With a free licence I have found that that you can only listen on shuffle on the mobile app, however on my tablet (iPad) I am able to listen without shuffle. Spotify also is available on PC & Mac for you to listen on your computer. To upgrade on Spotify, it is $11.99 /month which gives you more options.

Social Media: I will categorise these set of apps which I use one a daily basis; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat. I enjoy keeping in contact with all of my friends and family wherever they may be. I continuously have notifications set up which remind me of people you share their lives on social media, and I absolutely love it! If you are yet to follow me, please do!

Layout: As a keen amateur photographer I enjoy taking photos or all sorts of different things. Sometimes I will want to make a small collage of different photos to post to social media. Layout offers many different 1:1 ratio collage options and allows you to add 9 photos at once to make a group of photos which you can then go on and post to social media such as Facebook or Instagram. Layout is made my Instagram which means that they work together very well. There are many other photography apps which I use to edit photos. This may become a part of another blog.

To name just 5 apps that are my favourite is almost impossible. All the apps which I have on my phone help me to get things down every single day. I hope app developers continue to create and design apps which help us to live life easier in the 21st century.
