Our concept behind Cibo e Vino was simply that of a wine barrel. When we were given our brief to design a winery and clubhouse for the Sunshine Coast community we believed that the best way to attract travellers and visitors to the centre would be to combine both entertainment, food and wine, a perfect match made in heaven.
Our material selection also originated from the wine barrel with the classic combination of timber & steel working well together.
Cibo e Vino is divided into four levels. The ground floor is the main restaurant with plenty of seating for all visitors. Waiters are able to serve the food by walking down the stairs to the seating area. There is a hallway down the north of the building where PWD are able to get access from the top of the building to the bottom and to enjoy the good food of the restaurant.
The large concrete column which wraps around the building creates the beer garden on the southern side of the building. Along with the concrete column there is a boxed concrete shell which wraps around half of the building; the roof sits below this concrete shell.
The long hallway on the northern side of the building features a curtain glass wall which gives access to PWD and anyone who wishes to take a different route around the building.
Cibo e Vino is somewhere people are able to relax and enjoy the good food, wine and entertainment from the Sunshine Coast. People are able to do this whilst looking out onto the 18th hole of the Nambour Golf Course and out to the south west.
The beer garden is a perfect place to enjoy a nice glass of wine. With the custom made timber furniture and entertainment stage it creates a perfect spot to rewind.
